Soccer Passing Drills
Split the D
Two teams will play 5v2 in a 20-x-15 yard area. Attacking players can earn points by completing 7 consecutive passes (lower depending on ages of players) or by splitting the defenders.
Defenders can earn points by getting touches on the ball or by knocking it out of the area. When a defender makes a successful steal of the ball, then that person switches with the attacker that lost the ball.
All Crosses
Play 6v6 on half the field with 2 goals. 3 attackers and 2 defenders have to stay in in the middle, while each team has a crosser that stays to the outside of the cones.
When the defense recovers the ball, they quickly outlet to the crosser. The crosser dribbles down the field and plays a cross in. Encourage attackers to make a looping run to the far post, a diagonal run to the near post and a quick cut to the penalty spot.
Long Balls
All the players will be on one half of the soccer field. Half of the players will need to have a ball. Players should be moving and passing around the area.
Players with balls look to pass the ball to the farthest person away that does not have a ball. Work on long passes and quality traps.
